Next week's topics:
- How a farewell party brings a lot of air;
- Frits Koek about meteo and the proper preparation for everything that
can happen;
- Tight schedule and test of AT&T connections: follow the Syllogic on its
way to Plymouth;
- On second thought: Siebe speaks with Pieter and Harry Vogel (competitor
in class V) just before leaving to England;
The Syllogic Sailing Lab is an experimental Open 40 design with canting
mast and rotating keel. Thanks to the support of the compu-crew, a self
learning fully integrated computer network, the Syllogic is able to
perform close to her limits 24 hours per day - with or without the
skipper. Competing in the Europe 1 New Man STAR is the first challenge
for this extreme race yacht to prove that prognostic health management
systems can serve the needs of a solo skipper in the most severe and
unpredictable circumstances. The complex environment of a sailing yacht
is the best laboratory for artificial intelligence. Skipper Pieter
Adriaans does not only compete to break the 19 days and 11 hours record,
but also to prove his point. The technology of Artificial Intelligence
will change the world. Eventually. But probably sooner then we expect. The
Syllogic has already made a start.
