See also: EC-IST New EC call: Neuroinformatics for living artefactsThe Information Society Technologies programme
and the Quality of Life programme are launching
a joint call for project proposals
on "Neuroinformatics for 'living' artefacts".
The call objective is to explore new synergies
between Neurosciences and Information Technologies
in order to enable the construction of hardware/software
"artefacts that live and grow", i.e. artefacts
that self-adapt and evolve beyond pure programming.
Preference will be given to work that demonstrates
adaptability and growth in the "real world" and
that does not simply extrapolate from an already
established researd field (such as neural-networks
or genetic algorithms).
An Information Workshop on the call will take place
in Brussels on the 9th of June.
The workshop will feature:
- An in-depth presentation of the call
by European Commission staff.
- To stimulate thinking and discussion,
invited speakers will present topics of their choice
that relate to the call.
- _Stand up and speak_: anybody having registered
can speak for 2 minutes to describe their
interests and the kind of partnerships they are seeking.
